The Leadership Consortium (TLC) is a foundation, which will identify, recruit, develop, reengage and retain leaders of color in the public, private and nonprofit sectors.
Despite the dramatic increase in the percentages of ethnic minorities in the US, and, especially in the Southwestern US, there has been a dearth of people of color ascending into leadership positions. In the Phoenix metropolitan area, people of color comprise over 33% of the population, but are poorly represented on corporate boards, city councils, the state legislature or university faculties.
Through collaboration and partnership, The Leadership Coalition (TLC) will seek to enlarge the pool of available African-, Latino-, Asian-, Native American talent and facilitate the connection between those potential leaders and the organizations that need their capabilities.
TLC, a 501 (c) (3) organization, consists of a Board of Directors, which will create policy and oversee operations; an Advisory Council consisting of current leaders in the public, private and nonprofit sectors, which will handle fundraising and provision of mentors, training and hiring opportunities; and four committees, which will develop and organize the following programs: entrepreneurship, community service, education and public service.
