Linking Sports and Communities is an annual Arizona-wide event.  The objectives are to enhance sports and business community networking by providing workshops on financial literacy and sports career role models for youth, and raise money for The Leadership Consortium (TLC) scholarships.

This year most of the event will take place at Phoenix International Raceway in Avondale, Arizona. The event will consist of an awards breakfast on Saturday morning, September 19  (the Community Leadership Awards are given out to athletes, organizations and students, who have exhibited outstanding relationships with the community). That will be followed at PIR with a  a day of sports activities and educational workshops  for youth 12-18.    

Who:  youth 12-18 years old from schools, youth sports teams, churches, youth groups and recreation centers

When:  Saturday, NOVEMBER 14, 2009   10 AM-4:30 PM

Where: PHOENIX INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY in Avondale, AZ  

What:

·         Educational Workshops—attendees meet with current and retired professionals in sports to discuss importance of education and staying drug- and alcohol free, and  types of careers available in sports, and the importance of financial literacy

·        Sports Activities—attendees will attend the Able Body Labor 2009 NASCAR race
