A 4-8 week tiffany style lamp class: Finish one Tiffany style stained glass lamp using the Odyssey or Worden method of construction. Basic tools and knowledge are required (see specifications for additional tools needed, many of which can be ordered through this page). A discount on the class fee is available if you purchase tools/supplies from me. A 10% discount on all tools and supplies is available during class periods or when purchased at the time you sign up for a class. It is only necessary to purchase at least 4 sessions for this class with additional sessions purchased as needed to finish your lamp.

After taking a Tiffany lamp class, many students are anxious to move on to other projects. You can continue to work with lamp making using existing patterns or you may want to take an advanced class where you can create your own design to fit a base you have found. Advanced stained glass classes are offered where you can come in with a design of your own and get guidance about how to approach it, what techniques work best, what glass to select, etc.

Previous stained glass experience/tools required prior to the start of your class. See Links for Odyssey and Worden for lamp mold selections and specific requirements for your chosen lamp. Suggest small lamp to begin with. Tools Needed: Basic stained glass equipment plus Worden or Odyssey lamp form, Glass Head Pins or Tack Wax. Limited class size. Call/email with questions.

You can purchase throw away cutters that will do the job for a short period of time, but a good cutter will last a long time, has replaceable heads, and is comfortable to hold. Although there are many cutters to choose from, and usually it's a matter of preference among well made cutters, this is the one I use most often.

You can purchase throw away cutters that will do the job for a short period of time, but a good cutter will last a long time, has replaceable heads, and is comfortable to hold. There are many cutters to choose from, and usually it's a matter of preference about which one to use. I use a Toyo Comfort Grip cutter most often now, but as a beginner I liked the feel of the Pistol Grip cutter the best. Many stained glass artists have a variety of cutters they use if they continue working with glass.

Inland Temptrol soldering iron. Great for stained glass projects. This is another one of those tools that you may change the more you work with glass. What works well for you as a beginner, will probably not work as well for you as you progress. The nice thing about this iron is your ability to change the temperature. Working with lead came usually requires working at a lower temperature than when your working with copper foil. When working with brass, you will want an iron that gets pretty hot. This iron has the ability to be flexible if you work with copper foil, lead came, brass, zinc, or copper came. MSRP: $56.95

The groziers, however, give you an additional advantage of being able to gnaw away at the edges of the glass where small amounts of glass need to be removed. This is a staple tool for any stained glass studio and is something you will want to purchase eventually.
