Join the Academy Center of the Arts as we honor Juneteenth, the holiday marking the end of slavery in the United States, on June 19, 2021, in collaboration with the Juneteenth Coalition.
To kick off the Juneteenth celebrations, the Academy and BWX Technologies, Inc. will host a live-streamed event from the Historic Academy Theatre stage at 1:00PM EST. This event will blend multiple layers of artistry, beginning with words from Mayor Jane Dolan followed by performances by Kuumba Dance Ensemble, Spoken Word, and more!
While our nation’s history certainly is filled with tragedy, our collective resilience has carried us through. Now more than ever, we understand how important it is to address the past from an honest approach.
