For only $46 a month ($1.50 a day), NepalFacts about Nepal
The Forgotten Children Homes in Nepal Forgotten Children host 2 homes in Nepal. One in Pokhara and the second in the capitol city of Katmandu. POKAHARA HOME The beautiful city of Pokhara, nestled between mountains and lakes, hosts the 4th Forgotten Children Home. Sher and Kalpana Lama, the host couple, met as orphans, married, and now have a deep passion to reach out to street children. This home houses 20 children along with three of the Lamas children. Their hope is to have children from 8 different villages by the end of 2010. They believe that when these children's basic needs are provided for and they're given an education, they will have every opportunity to flourish in society. The Lama’s vision is to send these children back to their villages when they are adults to share about the hope and love they’ve received and invest into their villages.
Their newly-constructed home houses all 20 children in addition to the Lama’s and their family. With only a quarter of the children sponsored in Nepal, we need your help in supporting a child in need.
Forgotten Children is now sponsoring a 7th home in the capitol city of Katmandu, Nepal. The Tamang’s are the host couple of this home. They worked for years on staff at Youth For Christ and also as church planters in Nepal. After spending days fasting and waiting on the Lord, their mission became clear, “You have to do something for the orphans and for the widows”. Lila Tamang heard about an orphan named Timothy who had recently undergone surgery to repair a heart defect and had no one to look after him. When Lila found Timothy he was roaming where ever he wanted to go and no one was caring for him after his operation. He was fragile, in torn clothes, not sure where he would spend the night, and missing several days of medication needed for his heart. Lila said Timothy had been completely forgotten, even after heart surgery by his relatives at large. Timothy came to live with the Tamang’s, and thus began the home in Katmandu. That home now houses 26 children from a diverse group of people and remote parts of Nepal. We have recently stepped up to help support this home and currently do not have any sponsors for these children. Won’t you consider helping out a child like Timothy, one in desperate need of help.
The Tamang’s goal is to reach, with real love, these forgotten children, believing that love is a great thing to bring change in their lives.
