The "E" License Course
The "E" License is designed for the parent/coach who may or may not have any previous soccer playing or coaching experience. The curriculum focuses on the development of the player, both individually and as part of the team. The emphasis will be to build on the player's technical development by applying tactical concepts within a team environment.

Objectives:

  • To prepare coaches working with players ages 9 - 12 years old by expanding their knowledge and understanding of the technical and tactical demands of the game and the development process necessary for players these ages.
  • To provide an understanding of practical coaching methodology and the framework necessary to prepare players and a team for competition.
  • To prepare coaches for whom this represents their final coaching course, as well as, those who plan to pursue an advanced US Soccer Federation State and/or National License.

Curriculum (18 hours):

Classroom / Theory

  • Methods of Coaching, Team Management, Tactics, Laws of the Game, and Care and Prevention of Injuries.

Field / Practical

  • Dribbling, Passing, Receiving, Shooting, Heading, Goalkeeping, Defending, and Attacking.

    Comprehensive Assessment & Review

    • Practical Field Test and Written Exam

    The "D" License Course
    The "D" is the first licensing course offered under the auspices of the US Soccer Federation through affiliated members at the state level. In order to maintain consistency in the delivery and execution of the course the objectives, expectations, and grading for the "D" License course have been established.

    Objectives:

    • To prepare coaches working with players U10 and above by expanding their knowledge and understanding of the technical and tactical demands of the game and the developmental process necessary for players of these ages.
    • To provide an understanding of practical coaching methodology and the framework necessary to prepare players and a team for competition.
    • To prepare coaches for whom this represents their final coaching course, as well as, as those who plan to pursue an advanced US Soccer Federation Coaching License.

    Curriculum (36 hours):

    Classroom / Theory

    • Methods of Coaching, Team Management & Administration, Tactics I, Tactics II, Match Analysis, Laws of the Game, and Care and Prevention of Injuries.

    Field / Practical

    • Coaching Small Sided Games, Dribbling, Passing, Receiving and Turning, Heading and Crossing, Finishing, Fitness with the Ball, Goalkeeping, Possession, Defending and Attacking.

    Comprehensive Assessment and Review

    • Practice Coaching, Practical Field Test, and Written Exam
