Acai: Acai contains several substances called anthocyanins and flavonoids. The word anthocyanin comes from two Greek words meaning “plant” and “blue.” Anthocyanins are responsible for the red, purple, and blue hues in many fruits, vegetables, and flowers. Foods that are richest in anthocyanins -- such as blueberries, red grapes, red wine, and acai -- are very strongly colored, ranging from deep purple to black. Anthocyanins and flavonoids are powerful antioxidants that help defend the body against life's stressors. They also play a role in the body's cell protection system. Free radicals are harmful byproducts produced by the body. May interfere with aging and the disease process by neutralizing free radicals.

Agnus Castus: Other names include: Chaste tree, Vitex, Chasteberry, and Monk’s Pepper.  Vitex Agnus Castus neither represses sexual passion, as the ancient Greeks who gave it the name Agnus casus (chaste), believed, nor does it act as a true aphrodisiac.  Vitex is a normalizing herb for the female reproductive system, a regulator of the hormonal balance of estrogen and progesterone.   This normalizing of hormones is what makes the herb valuable in treating painful and irregular menses, PMS, menopause and infertility.  For chronic problems, it is most effective when taken over a prolonged period of time.  Once used by monks and nuns to curb sexual desire, chaste tree is now highly valued for its ability to regulate female hormones and increase breast milk production.  Aims to rectify the hormonal imbalances and other underlying causes of the symptoms.

Alanine: Alanine is a nonessential amino acid that plays a key role in the glucose-alanine cycle between muscle tissue and the liver. In amino acid-degrading tissues such as muscle, amino groups are pooled as glutamate by transamination reactions. The amino group of glutamate is transferred to pyruvate via alanine aminotransferase, forming alanine and α-ketoglutarate. The alanine is passed into the blood and transported to the liver. This reaction is reversed in the liver where pyruvate can be used in gluconeogenesis to form glucose, which may return to other tissues through the circulatory system.

Almond Oil: Some people apply sweet almond directly to the skin to soften chapped skin, to soothe mucous membranes, and to kill germs.

Aloe Vera: It is said that aloe vera plants are packed full of healing extracts, including vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, enzymes, and amino acids. The gel is filled with a plethora of aloe vera skin benefits, such as anti-bacterial, anti-viral, and anti-inflammatory, giving it soothing and moisturizing properties that defend against harmful toxins that can destroy the delicate skin of the face.  Aloe Vera is commonly known as a skin healer, moisturizer, and softener.  It is dramatically effective on burns of all types, and is also good for cuts, insect stings, bruises, acne, and blemishes, poison ivy, welts, skin ulcers, and eczema. Acts as an astringent, emollient, antifungal, antibacterial, and antiviral.  Applied topically, heals mouth sores and stimulates cell regeneration.  May be good for patients with AIDS and for skin.  It supports a healthy digestive system probably by increasing short-chain fatty acid production from the friendly bacteria in the colon if ingested.

Apigenin: Exciting new research shows that the non-toxic bioflavonoid Apigenin, when extracted from celery seed, has clinically induced  apoptosis, or programmed cell death (PCD), inhibiting the spread of cancer cells that attack the prostate, human skin, thyroid, stomach, pancreas, liver,  breasts, uterus and colon.  It has shown to be especially helpful on the cervix as it is found to be most effective at inhibiting the invasion of ovarian cancer cells and may even inhibit the growth of human leukemia cells.  Clinical research trials show Apigenin to reduce DNA cellular oxidative damage and stress, and offer significant protection against UV-radiation.  As we know, aging and disease are caused by cellular mutation.  In 2009, the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine was awarded to 3 scientists who discovered human DNA chromosomes are protected by a microscopic region of repetitive DNA at the end of a chromosome called telomeres.  This protection helps prevent the end cells from deterioration.  Hundreds of additional clinical tests later conducted proved that reducing cellular stress protects these telomeres, thereby slowing the aging process and the onset of disease.

Arginine: Branched-chain amino acids, isoleucine, leucine, and valine have been used as supplements for muscle building.  Arginine is also used for this purpose.  The proteins in your body are made up of 20 main naturally occurring amino acids and some other minor ones.  Arginine is considered a semi-essential amino acid.

Ashwaghanda: is an Ayurvedic adaptogenic herb that modulates the limbic system and adrenals. Recommended to help with anxiety, depression, panic disorder, as an antioxidant and free radical scavenger, for weakness and fatigue, and as a nerving tonic that calms and reduces stress.

Avocado Oil: Anti-ageing skin care oil that helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, to keep skin firm and youthful for longer.

B

Bromelain: Bromelain is used for reducing swelling (inflammation), especially of the nose and sinuses, after surgery or injury. It is also used for hay fever, treating a bowel condition that includes swelling and ulcers (ulcerative colitis), removing dead and damaged tissue after a burn (debridement), preventing the collection of water in the lung (pulmonary edema), relaxing muscles, stimulating muscle contractions, slowing clotting, improving the absorption of antibiotics, preventing cancer, shortening labor, and helping the body get rid of fat. It is also used for preventing muscle soreness after intense exercise. This use has been studied, and the evidence suggests bromelain doesn’t work for this. Some people use a product (Phlogenzym) for arthritis (osteoarthritis) that combines bromelain with trypsin (a protein) and rutin (a substance found in buckwheat). Bromelain used in this way seems to reduce pain and improve knee function in people with arthritis.

Brown Rice Extract: 20 years of ongoing research in Taiwan Brown Rice Extract was discovered to be a powerful blood purifier; cleansing the body of environmental toxins and pollutants including dreaded xenoestrogens (environmental hormone disruptors that create an imbalance in the body's natural hormones).  Brown Rice Extract is recommended for helping chronic disease, has anti-cancer properties, boosts immune functions, improves athletic ability and generally strengthens the body by helping revive old and injured cells.  Hundreds of clinical tests have proved that reducing and removing environmental toxins, including xenoestrogens, protects the DNA chromosome safety cells called telomeres.

Bufo Rana: prepared from the poison of a true toad called Bufo. The homeopathic medicine Bufo is also useful for children who are mentally weak and people who tend to become mentally disoriented or absent-minded much ahead of time and those suffering from symptoms of epilepsy.  Such people may experience convulsions or seizures while they are asleep at night. This medicine is also effective in treating injuries to fingers wherein the pain travels in flashes upward to the arms.  Early Chinese medical practitioners used dried out toad poison to treat several conditions such as epilepsy, lack of mental acuity, and nervous system conditions.

C

Calcium D Glucarate: A patented plant extract clinically shown to eliminate toxins and significantly reduce estrogen levels. It promotes 'good' estrogen known as 2-hydroxyestrone and inhibits 'bad' estrogen known as 16-alpha-hydroxyestrone (also referred to as 16ahydroxyestrone).  Men require small amounts of the 'good' 2- hydroxyestrone estrogen while clinical research shows the 'bad' 16ahydroxyestrone to be the probable cause of prostate cancer among others. Calcium D Glucarate is one of the two pathways the body uses to remove toxins from the liver, but it is the ONLY pathway that prevents these toxins from being re-absorbed back into the bloodstream. By removing toxins from the body, Calcium D Glucarate helps protect the DNA chromosome safety cells called telomeres.

Catalase: is a common enzyme found in nearly all living organisms exposed to oxygen. It catalyzes the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide to water and oxygen. It is a very important enzyme in protecting the cell from oxidative damage by reactive oxygen species (ROS). Likewise, catalase has one of the highest turnover numbers of all enzymes; one catalase molecule can convert millions of molecules of hydrogen peroxide to water and oxygen each second. Hydrogen peroxide is a harmful byproduct of many normal metabolic processes; to prevent damage to cells and tissues, it must be quickly converted into other, less dangerous substances. To this end, catalase is frequently used by cells to rapidly catalyze the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide into less-reactive gaseous oxygen and water molecules. A catalase deficiency may increase the likelihood of developing type 2 diabetes.

Chihuahuas: (Amazon Rainforest Herbal Discovery) (Possibly effective for)  Chuchuhuasi is commonly used for its effects on symptoms of arthritis and rheumatism and for back pain. It is a muscle relaxant and is thus effective at relieving sore muscles. Extracts show analgesic properties as well as anti-inflammatory activity. It inhibits production of the enzyme protein kinase C (PKC), which is indicated in the development of health problems including arthritis. Chuchuhuasi shows anti-diarrheal effects, and is also used for stomach aches, upset stomach, and hemorrhoids. Natives use chuchuhuasi for bronchitis and asthma, perhaps because of its anti-inflammatory effects. Some of the substances in chuchuhuasi have demonstrated anti-tumor activity, and a decoction is used as a tonic for the immune system. It can increase the ability of immune cells to attack bacteria and other invading organisms.

Choline Bitaratrate: is used for liver disease, including chronic hepatitis and cirrhosis. It is also used for depression, memory loss, Alzheimer's disease and dementia, Huntington's chorea, Tourette's disease, a brain disorder called cerebellar ataxia, certain types of seizures, and a mental condition called schizophrenia. Athletes use it for bodybuilding and delaying fatigue in endurance sports. Choline is taken by pregnant women to prevent neural tube defects in their babies and it is used as a supplement in infant formulas. Other uses include preventing cancer, lowering cholesterol, and controlling asthma.

Chrysin: Often referred to as 'Flavone X', Chrysin is the natural plant bioflavonoid 5,7-dihydroxyflavone.  When injected directly into the body, Chrysin has been clinically shown to be one of the most effective natural inhibitors of the conversion of testosterone into estrogen (aromatase) ever discovered.  Possessing excellent anti-inflammation and anti-oxidation properties, it is also able to stimulate and induce beneficial nitric oxide (NO) release from endothelial cells (thin layers of flat cells that line serous cavities, lymph vessels, and blood vessels).  Chrysin is very poorly absorbed when ingested orally in pill, capsule or liquid form, and is quickly metabolized by the first pass through the liver. Clinical studies have shown no measurable positive activity levels after an oral dose has been filtered through the liver. However, when directly applied to the surface area of the skin, Chrysin contained in topical creams and gels is well absorbed.  By bypassing the digestive tract through transdermal delivery, the problematic breakdown by liver filtration is avoided and the full benefits of Chrysin can be realized. Chrysin belongs to a class of chemicals called flavonoids. It occurs naturally in plants such as the passionflower, silver linden, and some geranium species; and in honey and bee propolis (glue). Chrysin is used for bodybuilding; for treating anxiety, inflammation, gout, HIV/AIDS, erectile dysfunction (ED), and baldness; and for preventing cancer. Often referred to as 'Flavone X', Chrysin is the natural plant bioflavonoid 5,7-dihydroxyflavone. Chrysin has been clinically shown to be one of the most effective natural inhibitors of the conversion of testosterone into estrogen (aromatase) ever discovered.

Chymotrypsin:  Chymotrypsin is a protease, an enzyme catalyzing the hydrolysis of peptide bonds of proteins. Chymotrypsin helps to digest proteins in our food. Other proteases are crucial for blood clotting (thrombin and other proteases), for the AIDS virus metabolism (HIV protease) and for many other processes relevant to human health and agriculture.

Circulatory Problems: Sepia women, with their innate desire to keep moving, are especially prone to stasis and stagnation. Apart from overall chilliness, and especially coldness of the extremities, they may likely suffer from varicose veins and bleeding, protruding hemorrhoids (often accompanied by constipation).  Sepia can also be used for men.

Collagen: is vital for strengthening blood vessels and giving skin its elasticity and strength. The degradation of collagen causes wrinkles and other skin issues. As a result, collagen is one of the most popular supplements among the elderly - because of its skin healing properties.

Cordyceps: This plant is one of the world's most treasured and effective plants used in herbal medicine.  Scientific research shows that wild Cordyceps from Tibet is much more effective than that which is grown elsewhere or cultivated laboratory versions. Tibetan wild Cordyceps is very expensive and costs $1000+ per 100 grams.  Widely used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for over 1500 years as an aphrodisiac and male tonic, it has also been successfully used for cellular rejuvenation, strengthening the heart and cardiovascular system, increasing oxygen to the cells, fighting fatigue, increased sports performance, hormonal balance, and improving sexual function.  A published Cordyceps study from the University of Beijing confirmed an amazing 64% success rate for men suffering with severe impotence.  In the 1990s, the free world discovered that Cordyceps was used by Chinese female athletes dominating and smashing world records in middle distance running.  The coach of these Chinese athletes revealed that the daily use of Cordyceps was considered a vital factor to these athletes' amazing success.

D

Damiana: Originally used in Mexican folk medicine, Damiana is an antidepressant and improves mood.  It is also mildly diuretic and may enhance the action of testosterone.  Damiana is used to treat depression, herpes, impotence and sexual problems of psychological origin in men and women.  Damiana is used primarily as an aphrodisiac for both sexes, and as a stimulant that can boost mental focus and stamina. The health benefits of Damiana are for the most part only verified by folklore and long observation, not by scientific study, however chemical analysis shows that Damiana contains alkaloids similar to caffeine that have stimulating and aphrodisiac effects, stimulating blood flow to the genital area and increasing sensitivity. Some people report feelings of mild euphoria.  Could improve mental function. Medical Uses: Aphrodisiac, libido, prostate.

Deer Antler: Deer Antler is considered to be one of the "big three" ultimate “herbs” (dietary supplements) of China - Ginseng, Reishi Mushroom and Deer Antler. All three are tonic herbs that have been used since pre-historic times to prolong life, improve energy, to protect the body and to promote wisdom. They are not used to treat any kind of ailment, but to support normal healthy life functions so as to promote wellbeing and longevity. Deer Antler contains mucopolysaccharides that promote the regeneration the antler tissue in the deer. This same substance supports regeneration of tissue to those who consume it. Deer Antler extract is considered to be the most powerful Yang tonic dietary supplement and is usually the main herb in any formula in which it is included. Deer Antler is used by athletes to support muscular strength. Deer Antler extract consumed as a dietary supplement supports the human in vivo production of IGF-1, a vital substance closely related to human growth hormone that regulates metabolism and hormone functions. Deer Antler extract is used to support the skeletal structure, especially the back and knees. Deer Antler helps support cartilage and joint function. As a dietary supplement that supports neurological functions, Deer Antler extract is also widely used to support mental power. Deer antler has also been demonstrated to support cardiovascular function. Deer Antler extract contains hyaluronic acid, a natural substance, also produced in the human body, that maintains elasticity of the skin and connective tissue. Deer Antler is also well known as a sexual tonic for both men and women. Deer Antler is suitable to both men and women, though men will generally consume Deer Antler in larger quantities. It is a Yang tonic that helps restore sexual vigor and performance for decreased sexual function associated with aging.

DHEA: (dehydroepiandrosterone) (Possibly effective for)  DHEA is a hormone that is produced primarily by the adrenal glands and is found naturally in the human body.  It is an important base from which other key substances, including the hormones testosterone, progesterone, and corticosterone, can be derived, either directly or indirectly.  The amount of DHEA produced by the body declines with age, particularly after age forty.  Research indicates that taking DHEA supplements may help to prevent cancer, arterial disease, multiple sclerosis, and Alzheimer’s disease; may be beneficial in the treatment of lupus and osteoporosis; may enhance the activity of the immune system; and may help to improve memory.

Deionized Purified Water: also known as demineralized water / DM water[2] (DI water, DIW or de-ionized water), is water that has had its mineral ions removed, such as cations like sodium, calcium, iron, and copper, and anions such as chloride and sulfate.

Dimethylaminoethanol (DMAE): DMAE has become very popular for skin’s care and health. It is believed that DMAE increases the ability of skin cells to contract, improving skin texture and reducing wrinkles. DMAE (Dimethylaminoethanol) is a chemical naturally produced in the human brain. It may increase the neurotransmitter, acetylcholine (a well-known neurotransmitter involved in memory, muscle control and other body functions). DMAE has also been studied for its effects on memory, concentration, emotional well-being and brain health.

DL-Phenylalanine: is an essential amino acid which is sold as nutritional supplements for its reputed pain relief and antidepressant effects. May help regulate mood and mental functions. Cannot be made by the body. May help form neurotransmitters.

E

Eleutherococcus Senticosus: Also known as Siberian Ginseng has a long history of use in Chinese medicine as tonics.  It enhances the body’s ability to cope with stress, improve energy metabolism, lower blood sugar, boost immunity, enhance liver function, and regulate cell growth. The anti-fatigue and anti-stress properties are used to increase physical and mental performance in people who are debilitated and suffering from stress.  Siberian Ginseng is often used to treat chronic fatigue syndrome, to combat the side effects of cancer chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and to treat rheumatic pain in the elderly.

Endorphins: augment the immune system, help to provide relief from pain, delay the aging process as well as diminish nervous anxiety. In addition, during the course of their researches, scientists have discovered that beta-endorphins, which are basically a type of polypeptides, possess the ability to set off the human NK (Natural Killer) cells that actually perk up the immune system against various ailments and also eliminates cancerous cells.  Besides diminishing our sensitivity to pain, secretion of endorphin by the body results in feelings of ecstasy, release of sex hormones, alteration of appetite as well as boosting the immune response.  The significant enhancement in the production and release of endorphins by the body following ingestion of chocolates is considered to be one of the major reasons why people usually turn to this substance as a comfort or placating food, especially when they are passing through stressful periods in life. In addition, since the release of endorphins is also related to the consumption of chili peppers, the latter have been used in a variety of dissimilar types of medical therapies, particularly as a part of the remedy for chronic or persistent pain.

Epilobium Angustifolium: Also known as Chamerion Angustifolium, Fireweed, Great Willow-herb, and Rosebay Willowherb. This herb has been used in the traditional Austrian medicine internally as tea for treatment of disorders of the prostate, kidneys, and urinary tract.  The North American First Nations people used fireweed as a fresh or cooked vegetable, as a tobacco substitute, and as a poultice to draw out infections. Fireweed shows anti-inflammatory activity to reduce the redness associated with skin irritation, sun burn, and diaper rash.

Epimedium Grandiflorum (Horny Goat Weed) Extract: This Chinese herb is also known as Horny Goat Weed. It has androgenic effects that increase sexual desire and improve sexual performance. It is known for stimulating cerebral and peripheral circulation and helping to dilate coronary vessels, thereby increasing blood flow by reducing vascular resistance. It has been used for centuries for kidney cleanse and support and as a male sexual tonic. Dr. Charles Mesko is recognized by the health food industry for introducing the many benefits of epimedium to American health food stores and consumers.

Eucommia Ulmoides Bark: This is the only phyto-androgenic plant ever discovered and clinically documented to have corresponding male hormone-like (testosterone) effects that interact with the human androgen (testosterone) receptors.  Plants containing compounds such as isoflavonoids, with female hormone-like effects that bind to human estrogen receptors, are well known.  Eucommia ulmoides bark (cortex) of the Gutta-Percha tree possesses bimodal phyto-androgenic male hormone potentiating effects.  Prior to this research, no plant based phyto-androgen was known to exist.  This tree bark has been safely and successfully used for centuries in Traditional Chinese Medicine for the rejuvenation of male strength and sexual function.  Eucommia ulmoides bark extract is more concentrated and more potent than eucommia ulmoides bark.

F

Fenugreek: Fenugreek has been used for thousands of years as a sweet smelling spice.  It is used world-wide for digestive problems and is considered very safe.  Recent research has discovered naturally occurring phytonutrients contained in fenugreek to show great promise to help male erectile dysfunction and increase and raise testosterone levels including the much desired “free” testosterone needed for building and maintaining lean muscle.  As this is a “Hot” market, many new low quality fenugreek extract supplements are surfacing.  Some large supplement companies with profit driven marketing departments, are selling high profit products containing low quality, low cost ingredients.

Fulvic Acid Trace Minerals and Electrolytes:  Minerals are vital to all body functions. Fulvic Acid Trace Minerals and Electrolytes are an ideal natural source of essential nutrients needed for cellular health and tissue rejuvenation.  Fulvic Acid can remarkably be both an electron donor or electron acceptor depending on cellular needs.  When added to herbal formulas, tiny Fulvic Acid Trace Minerals and Electrolytes greatly enhance cellular absorption of the other contained herbs by chelating (to stabilize or prevent the precipitation of damaging compounds) and breaking down the herb into a microscopic ionic size for optimum cellular absorption that can transport as much as 100 times their weight of needed nutrients directly into cells.  It is well known that it is not the amount of herbs that are ingested that is important, it is the amount of the herbs and contained nutrients that are actually absorbed by the body and their effectiveness that is most important.

G

GABA: (Possibly effective for)  for relieving anxiety, improving mood, and treating attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). It is also used for promoting lean muscle growth, burning fat, stabilizing blood pressure, and relieving pain. GABA is used for increasing the sense of well-being, relieving injuries, improving exercise tolerance, decreasing body fat, and increasing lean body weight.

Gamma-Amino butyric Acid (GABA):  GABA is a chemical that is made in the brain. GABA is taken by mouth for relieving anxiety, improving mood, reducing symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS), and treating attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). It is also used for promoting lean muscle growth, burning fat, stabilizing blood pressure, and relieving pain. GABA is used under the tongue for increasing the sense of well-being, relieving injuries, improving exercise tolerance, decreasing body fat, and increasing lean body weight. GABA works by blocking brain signals (neurotransmissions).

Ginkgo Biloba Extract: has been used for improving blood flow, for improving memory/concentration due to certain brain problems. Ginkgo Biloba is an herb with powerful antioxidant effects in the brain, retina, and cardiovascular system.  It is well known for its ability to enhance circulation, and a study reported in the Hournal of the American Medical Association showed that it has a measurable effect on dementia in people with Alzheimer’s disease and people recovering from strokes.  Other studies indicate that it can improve both long-and short-term memory and enhance concentration. Ginkgo Biloba has also been used to treat hearing problems, impotence, and macular degeneration.  Improves brain functioning by increasing cerebral and peripheral increasing cerebral and peripheral circulation and tissue oxygenation.  Has an antioxidant property.  May slow the progression of Alzheimer’s disease, and may relieve leg cramps by improving circulation.  Beneficial for asthma, dementia, depression, eczema, headaches, heart and kidney disorders, memory loss, and tinnitus (ringing in the ears).  Shows promise as a treatment for vascular-related impotence.

Glycine: is used for treating schizophrenia, stroke, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), and some rare inherited metabolic disorders. It is also used to protect kidneys from the harmful side effects of certain drugs used after organ transplantation as well as the liver from harmful effects of alcohol. Other uses include cancer prevention and memory enhancement. The body uses glycine to make proteins. Glycine is also involved in the transmission of chemical signals in the brain, so there is interest in trying it for schizophrenia and improving memory. Some researchers think glycine may have a role in cancer prevention because it seems to interfere with the blood supply needed by certain tumors.

H

Histidine: is an essential amino acid important for growth and repair of tissues. It is necessary for the maintenance of myelin sheaths, which protect nerve cells, and the production of red and white blood cells. It is the precursor for histamine, and B-6, niacin, and Vitamin C are necessary for proper metabolism. It is also a precursor for Carnosine and Anserine. Histidine acts as an antioxidant protecting against radiation damage by helping to remove heavy metals from the body. It stimulates the secretion of gastric juices; therefore helping with digestion.

Hyaluronic Acid: The FDA has approved the use of hyaluronic acid during certain eye surgeries including cataract removal, corneal transplantation, and repair of a detached retina and other eye injuries. It is injected into the eye during the procedure to help replace natural fluids. Hyaluronic acid is also used as a lip filler in plastic surgery. Some people apply hyaluronic acid to the skin for healing wounds, burns, skin ulcers, and as a moisturizer. There is also a lot of interest in using hyaluronic acid to prevent the effects of aging. In fact, hyaluronic acid has been promoted as a "fountain of youth."

Hypothalamus: The hypothalamus is actually a tiny cluster of nerve cells located at the base of the brain.  It serves as a link between the autonomic nervous system and the endocrine system.  It is responsible for many body functions because it integrates and ensures appropriate responses to stimuli.  In addition, it regulates hunger, thirst, sleep and wakefulness and also plays an important role in the regulation of most of the involuntary mechanisms of the body, including body temperature, sexual drive and the female menstrual cycle.  Finally, it regulates the work of the pituitary gland.

I

Indole-3-Carbinol: Indole-3-carbinol is a substance found in vegetables such as broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, collards, cauliflower, kale, mustard greens, turnips, and rutabagas. It can also be produced in the laboratory. Indole-3-carbinol is used for prevention of breast cancer, colon cancer, and other types of cancer. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has reviewed indole-3-carbinol as a possible cancer preventive agent and is now sponsoring clinical research for breast cancer prevention. Indole-3-carbinol is also used for fibromyalgia, tumors inside the voice box (laryngeal papillomatosis) caused by a virus, tumors inside the respiratory tract (respiratory papillomatosis) caused by a virus, abnormal cell growth in the cervix (cervical dysplasia), and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Some people use indole-3-carbinol to balance hormone levels, “detoxify” the intestines and liver, and to support the immune system. Researchers are interested in indole-3-carbinol for cancer prevention, particularly breast, cervical and endometrial, and colorectal cancer. Their reason is that diets with higher amounts of fruit and vegetable consumption are associated with a decreased risk of developing cancer. Researchers suspect indole-3-carbinol is one of several vegetable components that might protect against cancer.

Inositol: is used for diabetic nerve pain, panic disorder, high cholesterol, insomnia, cancer, depression, schizophrenia, Alzheimer’s disease, attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism, promoting hair growth, a skin disorder called psoriasis, and treating side effects of medical treatment with lithium. Inositol is also used by mouth for treating conditions associated with polycystic ovary syndrome, including failure to ovulate; high blood pressure; high triglycerides; and high levels of testosterone. Inositol might balance certain chemicals in the body to possibly help with conditions such as panic disorder, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and polycystic ovary syndrome.

Iporuru: (Amazon Rainforest Herbal Discovery) is a plant. The bark, leaves, and root are used to make medicine. People take iporuru for painful conditions including joint and muscle pain (rheumatism), headache, and toothache. Some people take iporuru to treat coughs and swollen airways (bronchitis) or to stimulate digestion and treat diarrhea. Other uses include treatment of thrush and ringworm, which are fungal infections; malaria, a parasitic infection; and leprosy, a bacterial infection. Men take iporuru for erectile dysfunction (ED, impotence). Iporuru is also used for lowering blood sugar levels in people with diabetes; and for treating snakebite, chills, redness and swelling of the eye (conjunctivitis), gonorrhea, chancre sores, hemorrhoids, yellowed skin (jaundice), and water retention. Some people use it to increase sexual desire (as an aphrodisiac).

J

Jojoba Oil:  Prior to the 1970’s whale oil was commonly used to keep skin soft, supple and elastic.  Since scientists knew jojoba could maintain its texture and not dry even though it was exposed to extreme temperatures for long periods of time, they found a way to cause a wax (oil) to be secreted from the beans of the plant. It was also found that this wax performed better then whale oil on the skin. There was no side effects or toxins found when placed on the skin. Jojoba oil for skin was found to useful for people who have sensitivity due to psoriasis and eczema.  In later years it was discovered that those serious acne conditions could treat the acne areas the jojoba oil could clear up the exposed area and leave little to no scarring. Jojoba oil benefits for the skin is that it does not leave an oily sensation or residue like whale oil or other oils applied to the skin. As mentioned earlier, the reason is because instead of oil secreted from the jojoba bean it is a wax.  It is a liquid wax applied to the skin and is chemically more closely related to the oil produced from our skin, sebum. Therefore when applied to the skin it penetrates without having a greasy or tacky feeling. Some of the other benefits jojoba oil for the skin is keeping it from dehydrating. Maintaining the skin to be pliant, keeping it elastic, non-comedogenic (retard the production of acne) and has even shown the ability to reduce wrinkles or minimize fine lines.

L-Cysteine: N-acetyl cysteine comes from the amino acid L-cysteine. Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins. N-acetyl cysteine has many uses as medicine. N-acetyl cysteine is used to counteract acetaminophen (Tylenol) and carbon monoxide poisoning. It is also used for chest pain (unstable angina), bile duct blockage in infants, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, Lou Gehrig’s disease), Alzheimer’s disease, allergic reactions to the anti-seizure drug phenytoin (Dilantin), and an eye infection called keratoconjunctivitis. It is also used for reducing levels of a type of cholesterol called lipoprotein (a), homocysteine levels (a possible risk factor for heart disease) and the risk of heart attack and stroke in patients with serious kidney disease. Some people use N-acetyl cysteine for chronic bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), hay fever, a lung condition called fibrosing alveolitis, head and neck cancer, and lung cancer. It is also used for treating some forms of epilepsy; ear infections; complications of kidney dialysis; chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS); an autoimmune disorder called Sjogren’s syndrome; preventing sports injury complications; radiation treatment; increasing immunity to flu and H1N1 (swine) flu; and for detoxifying heavy metals such as mercury, lead, and cadmium. N-acetyl cysteine is also used for preventing alcoholic liver damage; for protecting against environmental pollutants including carbon monoxide, chloroform, urethanes and certain herbicides; for reducing toxicity of ifosfamide and doxorubicin, drugs that are used for cancer treatment; as a hangover remedy; for preventing kidney damage due to certain X-ray dyes; and for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Healthcare providers give N-acetyl cysteine intravenously (by IV) for acetaminophen overdose, acrylonitrile poisoning, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, Lou Gehrig’s disease), kidney failure in the presence of liver disease (hepatorenal syndrome), chest pain in combination with nitroglycerin, heart attack in combination with nitroglycerin and streptokinase, and for helping to prevent multi-organ failure leading to death. N-acetyl cysteine is sometimes inhaled (breathed into the lungs) or delivered through a tube in the throat to treat certain lung disorders such as pneumonia, bronchitis, emphysema, cystic fibrosis, and others.

Lecithin:  Is a type of lipid that is needed by every living cell in the human body.  Cell membranes, which regulate the passage of nutrients into and out of the cells, are largely composed of lecithin.  The protective sheaths surrounding the brain are composed of lecithin, and the muscles and nerve cells also contain this essential fatty substance. Lecithin consists mostly of the B vitamin choline, and also contains linoleic acid and inositol.  Acts as an emulsifying agent.  Helps to prevent arteriosclerosis, protects against cardiovascular disease, improves brain function, and aids in the absorption of thiamine by the liver and vitamin A by the intestine.  It is also known to promote energy and is needed to help repair damage to the liver caused by alcoholism.  Lecithin enables fats, such as cholesterol and other lipids, to be dispersed in water and removed from the body.  The vital organs and arteries are thus protected from fatty buildup.

L-Isoleucine: Isoleucine is an essential amino acid that along with leucine and valine makeup the branched chain amino acids (BCAA). This amino acid cannot be manufactured in the body, and needs to be supplied in the diet. Isoleucine is thought to play the biggest role in increasing endurance and helping heal, repair and grow muscle tissue damaged from injury and strenuous exercise and training. Isoleucine is especially important to serious athletes and body builders because of its role in boosting energy production and assisting the body recover from strenuous physical activity.

L-Leucine: Branched-chain amino acids are used to treat amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, Lou Gehrig's disease), brain conditions due to liver disease (chronic hepatic encephalopathy, latent hepatic encephalopathy), a movement disorder called tardive dyskinesia, a genetic disease called McArdle's disease, a disease called spinocerebellar degeneration, and poor appetite in elderly kidney failure patients and cancer patients. Branched-chain amino acids are also used to help slow muscle wasting in people who are confined to bed. Some people use branched-chain amino acids to prevent fatigue and improve concentration.

L-Tyrosine:  is used in protein supplements to treat an inherited disorder called phenylketonuria (PKU). People who have this problem can’t process phenylalanine properly, so as a result they can’t make tyrosine. To meet their bodies’ needs, supplemental tyrosine is given. People take tyrosine for depression, attention deficit disorder (ADD), attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), the inability to stay awake (narcolepsy), and improving alertness following sleep deprivation. It is also used for stress, premenstrual syndrome (PMS), Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), alcohol and cocaine withdrawal, heart disease and stroke, ED (erectile dysfunction), loss of interest in sex, schizophrenia, and as a suntan agent and appetite suppressant.

L-Valine: L-Valine is an essential amino acid that is necessary for smooth nervous system and cognitive functioning. It is one of the three Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs), the other two being L-leucine and L-isoleucine. Some of the benefits of L-Valine include improvement in insomnia and nervousness. It is also shown to improve disorders of the muscles, and is effective as an appetite suppressant. L-Valine also greatly benefits the regulation of the immune system. Perhaps the biggest benefits are experienced by athletes who perform long distance sports and bodybuilding. L-Valine is essential for muscle tissue repair and muscle metabolism, and also increases exercise endurance.

Lysine: Is used to prevent and treat Herpes simplex virus infections.  It seems to be more effective for cold sores (herpes type1) than for genital herpes (type 2).  Lysine is considered to be an essential amino acid.  Carnitine is a vitamin-like compound with a structure similar to an amino acid and can be made by the body from the amino acid, Lysine. Carnitine is essential for fat metabolism as it transports fatty acids into the mitochondria, where they are “burned” to release energy for body functions.  Carnitine increases the use of fat as an energy source.

MCP (Modified Citrus Pectin): Pectin is a nutrient commonly found in citrus fruits and apples. It has proved extremely useful at relieving constipation, removing toxins from the body, and even fighting cancer.  It was discovered that when Pectin was modified into smaller molecules, the bloodstream could easily transport it throughout the body.  Studies confirm MCP to be extremely effective in the prevention of cancer and Alzheimer’s disease as well as removing toxins and heavy metals from the body.  As with other toxin ridding herbs and extracts, hundreds of clinical tests have proved that by reducing and removing toxins from the body, the DNA chromosome safety cells called telomeres* remain healthier and better able to prevent cell deterioration.

Menopause: Think of Sepia in all cases of hormonal imbalance. The menopause of Sepia is typified by hair loss, irritability, hot flashes, profuse night sweats, and leaving the woman feeling overwhelmed and/or indifferent. Sepia women may have involuntary attacks of weeping, without knowing why.

Milk Thistle Extract: No drug yet discovered is as effective as herbal Milk Thistle Extract for rejuvenating the liver.  Eventually, all ingested substances and toxins including drugs and medications that the body recognizes as a danger to itself are filtered by the liver.  The liver can then become overworked and toxic causing poor health, disease and premature death.  Milk Thistle Extract rejuvenates and helps maintain a healthy liver to effectively filter and remove harmful toxins also helping keep telomeres* protective and healthy.

Mucuna Pruriens Herb and Extract: This rare herb from India has been successfully used for 1000s of years in Ayurvedic Medicine (originating in India, the oldest recorded form of medicine in the world).  It contains the world's most widely researched amino acid, L-dopa. Over 250,000 worldwide research papers on L-dopa have been written.  For the past 35 years L-dopa in prescription form has been the world's leading drug used to treat the dreaded dopamine deficiency known as Parkinson’s disease.  L-dopa converts into the vital brain neurotransmitter dopamine which is required to transfer information from neuron to neuron.  Dopamine controls the release of growth hormone needed by adults to repair and rejuvenate aging cells and regulates over 200 body functions including motor control, restful sleep, energy levels, sex drive, cholesterol and tolerance to pain.  As we age, a decline in dopamine production hinders the hypothalamic/pituitary axis to properly stimulate the production of needed hormones, including growth hormone. Reduced levels of growth hormone weaken and negatively impact chromosomal microscopic telomeres*, thus leaving the body vulnerable at the cellular level. Reduced levels of growth hormone negatively impact insulin.  Increased levels of growth hormone prompt insulin to be efficiently utilized by the lean muscle cells, organs, bones and skin, while studies show insulin (when growth hormone levels are low) to be readily absorbed by fat cells causing fat accumulation.  L-dopa also inhibits the release of the female hormone prolactin which, in pregnant women, stimulates healthy milk production. However, in men, prolactin has no known beneficial function.  Prolactin is estimated to be responsible for 80% of male erection problems and can stimulate secondary female physical characteristics such as gynecomastia (fatty deposits around male breast tissue commonly referred to as 'man boobs'). L-dopa has proven effective at aiding women afflicted with anorgasmia (the inability to reach orgasm).  When Mucuna Pruriens are taken orally, the widely beneficial contained L-dopa is destroyed by stomach acids. This problem was solved by Dr. Charles Mesko who was awarded a U.S. Patent.  Dr. Mesko invented an Herbal Growth Hormone available without a prescription.  It features a special coating to protect the Mucuna Pruriens and contained L-dopa from destructive stomach acid. Another Indian herb, Tribulis Terrestris, was added to greatly extend the normally short life of L-dopa in the body. More information on Mucuna Pruriens can be found in the 3rd, 4th and 5th editions of the World’s Best Selling comprehensive guide for drug free remedies, “Prescription For Nutritional Healing” by Phyllis A. Balch CNC and James F. Balch, MD.

Natrum Muriaticum:  Natrum muriaticum (Nat. mur.) is a slow acting remedy that responds well to chronic ailments. It is seldom prescribed for acute conditions, and then only when symptoms specific to the remedy are present. This polychrest is a very powerful and deep acting remedy and makes long lasting changes, often continuing to bring about results for several years. Nat. mur. increases production of red blood cells and albumin, a protein found in animal and vegetable tissues. It does not cure by supplying the amount of salt that the body needs, but acts to alter and restore the tissues of the body so they can assimilate the body's needs for salt from food. By bringing the body into a state of health, Nat. mur. reduces the patient's susceptibility to colds, fevers, and other ailments.

Olive Oil: A study conducted by Dr. Niva Shapira from Tel Aviv University in Israel and Bob Kuklinski of Rockstock University in Germany found that olive oil, along with other components of a Mediterranean diet, may contribute to the prevention of malignant melanoma.  Malignant melanoma, which is the most dangerous type of skin cancer, may be slowed down by consumption of olive oil, which is rich in antioxidants. People have used olive oil for centuries for personal care. It is a great skin moisturizer, in part because it contains linoleic acid, a compound not made by the body, but which prevents water from evaporating. According to Leslie Baumann, M.D., author of The Skin Type Solution, consuming olives and olive oil can promote healthy skin, as can applying it directly as a moisturizer. Some of the most exciting news, according to Baumann, is that olive oil also contains at least four different antioxidants, which can help "neutralize damaging free radicals that can lead to skin aging and skin cancer." Baumann writes that in studies mice that drank extra virgin olive oil developed less skin cancer after exposure to UV light.

Orchic: Orchic extract is made from cattle testicles. It is used to make medicine. Men use orchic extract to maintain healthy testicular function.

Organic Magnesium:  plays a role in your body's detoxification processes and therefore is important for helping to prevent damage from environmental chemicals, heavy metals and other toxins.

Organic Silica: Organic silicon is an essential element in the regeneration of collagen fibers. Silicon prolilhidroxilasa stimulates the production of an enzyme that is central to the production of abundant collagen fibers leading towards well lubricated joints. Silicon also improves the quality of elastin and is integral in the process which renovates, repairs, and rejuvenates tissue. All connective tissue contains silica, every strand of hair, every inch of skin, every millimeter of nail, every fibre of muscle and portion of bone. Whether they are all strong and healthy depends greatly on how much silica is present. Silica makes hair shine and skin radiant because it holds in moisture. It’s the filler that smoothes out the cracks that appear in our surfaces over time. It holds us together, makes us strong – and our very bones are dependent on it for their structural integrity.

PABA (P-Aminobenzoic Acid): PABA is taken by mouth for skin conditions including vitiligo, pemphigus, dermatomyositis, morphea, lymphoblastoma cutis, Peyronie’s disease, and scleroderma. PABA is also used to treat infertility in women, arthritis, “tired blood” (anemia), rheumatic fever, constipation, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), and headaches. It is also used to darken gray hair, prevent hair loss, make skin look younger, and prevent sunburn.

Pancreatin Trypsin: is a mixture of several digestive enzymes produced by the exocrine cells of the pancreas. It is composed of amylase, lipase and protease. This mixture is used to treat conditions in which pancreatic secretions are deficient, such as surgical pancreatectomy, pancreatitis and cystic fibrosis. It has been claimed to help with food allergies, celiac disease, autoimmune disease, cancer and weight loss.

Papain: Used in preparations of various remedies for indigestion, ulcers, fever, and swelling.

Passiflora Incarnata:  Also known as Passion Flower is an herb which acts as relaxants and nervine tonics and is beneficial in the treatment of insomnia.  Herbalists have a high regard for the soothing properties of passion flower and recommend it as a general nerve tonic to treat nervous stress.  The Commission E approved its use for anxiety.  Passionflower is used to gently relax the mind/body to prepare for a more restful night’s sleep.  Other uses include neuralgia including post herpes nerve pain and shingles.  Together in an extract, the alkaloids and flavonoids of passionflower are stronger sedatives and relaxants that one isolated chemical, reminding us of the wisdom of using the whole herb, instead of isolated extracts.

Phosphatidyl Serine: Phosphatidylserine is used for Alzheimer's disease, age-related decline in mental function, improving thinking skills in young people, attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), depression, preventing exercise-induced stress, and improving athletic performance. Phosphatidylserine is an important chemical with widespread functions in the body. It is part of the cell structure and is key in the maintenance of cellular function, especially in the brain.

Phosphoric acid: has several uses outside of the realm of homeopathy as well. In the past, it has been used as a digestive stimulant. It may help reduce elevated calcium levels in potential cancer patients, fight against hair loss and diabetes, prevent digestive tract-related dehydration, and provide relief in children suffering from growing pains.

Phosphoricum Acidum: Of the many ailments Phosphoricum Acidum is meant to cure in homeopathic medicine, many results from stress. Mental and physical exhaustion, apathy, grief, insomnia coupled with fatigue, lethargy, and listlessness are all treated with phosphoric acid. It is believed that the initial tell-tale symptoms of these ailments include appetite loss, a thirst for sweet or fruity tasting beverages, difficulty focusing, forgetfulness, and cold sweats. In large doses, however, this substance would be likely to aggravate such ailments and symptoms. Experts in homeopathic medicine claim that the best candidates for Phosphoricum Acidum treatment are people with overall calm and gentle personalities, who may be experiencing grief or trauma which they have a profound difficulty properly dealing with. The treatment should not, however, be viewed as a complete cure. It is recommended that a Phosphoricum Acidum regimen is accompanied by gentle exercise, plenty of rest, and physical warmth.

Phosphorus: is essential for healthy bones, acid base balance in the body, for metabolism of proteins, carbohydrates, fats, DNA, and energy production and exchange.  Phosphorus interacts with calcium and magnesium in body functions. Phosphorus is second only to calcium as the most abundant mineral in the body and is a constituent of all plant and animal cells.  Phosphate is the primary ion in extra and intracellular fluid.  It aids absorption of dietary constituents, helps to maintain the blood at a slightly alkaline level, regulates enzyme activity and is involved in the transmission of nerve impulses.  Phosphorus is a component of some of the major building blocks in the body, including RNA and DNA and lipids, including those in the blood and cell membranes.  It is necessary for the conversion of dietary carbohydrate, fat and protein to energy.  It is part of the adenosine triphosphate (ATP) molecule which acts as a reservoir of energy in cells.

Post-Partum Complaints: Women who have a lack of interest in their families, irritability and lowered energy (sexual and otherwise), are all Sepia candidates.

Pregnancy (Complaints of): Pregnant women are often catapulted into a Sepia state on becoming pregnant, suffering from chloasma (the “mask of pregnancy”), morning sickness (worse from the sight/smell of food), extreme weariness, and constipation. Those lacking emotional or physical support, experiencing headache, varicose veins, and constipation would likely benefit from Sepia, as are women who have a history of miscarriage around five and seven months of pregnancy. Expectant mothers who already have children are especially prone to a Sepia state.

Pre-Menstrual Syndrome (PMS): The Sepia woman may appear indifferent and/or irritable prior to her period, often taking her foul mood out on those closest to her (i.e., her partner or children). She will be fatigued, snappy, and chilly, and markedly worse for missing meals.

Pygeum Africanum: reduces inflammation and congestion.  Lowers levels of inflammatory compounds in the prostate.  Effective in reducing prostate enlargement and symptoms associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia such as urinary hesitancy, weak urine flow, nighttime urination, and recurrent urinary infections.

Resveratrol: On January 25, 2009 CBS's 60 Minutes featured a segment on the exciting discovery of a substance called Resveratrol.  A polyphenol found in red wine purported to slow down and even reverse the signs of aging. Due to what is known as the 'French Paradox', Resveratrol is highly researched. The French consume very large amounts of animal based saturated fats, yet have an amazing low death rate from coronary artery disease. This 'paradox' is thought to be attributed to the Resveratrol ingested due to the vast amounts of red wine consumed on a daily basis. Clinical tests confirm Resveratrol is also effective at removing excess estrogen from the body. Tests have shown that when applied topically, Resveratrol proved highly effective at slowing down, repairing, and even reversing skin damage caused by sun exposure.  Resveratrol has also been documented to directly protect telomeres*, reduce DNA cellular oxidative damage and stress, and offer significant protection against UV-radiation. Hundreds of additional clinical tests conducted proved that reducing cellular stress protects these telomeres, thereby slowing the aging process and the onset of disease.* and aiding in the health and protective nature of these vital cellular clusters. The newest clinical research also shows promising results in Resveratrol helping the fight against diabetes. Resveratrol from red wine is retained in the body up to 15 minutes, but in dietary supplement capsules is retained for up to 30 minutes.  However, clinical trials have shown that because topically applied Resveratrol is slowly released into the cells through skin absorption, it therefore offers protection for up to 8 hours.

Rheosol: An emulsion is a two-phase system. The principal components are an oil phase and an aqueous (water) phase. The aqueous phase is water plus any combination of polar materials that dissolve, at least to some extent, in water. The oil phase comprises one or more oily materials, or other ingredients which are non-polar and exhibit at least some solubility in oily materials. The conventional way of forming a cosmetic emulsion is to heat the two phases separately then bring them together with vigorous mixing and continue mixing until cool. To stop the emulsion separating one or more emulsifiers are incorporated in the composition. Acrylate or polyacrylate polymers are supplied pre-dispersed in oils or esters to which the aqueous phase can be added with rapid stirring. - See more at: Cold process emulsifiers are becoming increasingly popular as manufacturers search for ways of reducing costs and greener production methods.

Rhodiola Rosea: Native to cold regions of the world, tests have confirmed Russian Rhodiola Rosea to be the most effective species due to specific phytonutrients not found in Rhodiola Rosea grown in other regions. Russian Rhodiola Rosea is considered highly effective and widely used to relieve stress. Clinical studies show Russian Rhodiola Rosea, and especially the higher potency Russian Rhodiola Rosea Extracts, to be powerful adaptogens for promoting hormonal Homeostasis (balance) and reducing cellular stress, deterioration and breakdown caused by environmental toxins, poor nutrition, overworked muscles and lack of sleep. Russian Rhodiola Rosea Extracts have proved to be powerful natural supplements that reduce and prevent cellular oxidative stress, which in turn protects vital telomeres* that help slow down cellular aging, improve immune system functions and protect against disease.

Rutin: Rutin is a plant pigment (flavonoid) that is found in certain fruits and vegetables. Rutin is used to make medicine. The major sources of rutin for medical use include buckwheat, Japanese pagoda tree, and Eucalyptus macrorhyncha. Other sources of rutin include the leaves of several species of eucalyptus, lime tree flowers, elder flowers, hawthorn leaves and flowers, rue, St. John's Wort, Ginkgo Biloba, apples, and other fruits and vegetables. Some believe that rutin can strengthen blood vessels, so they use it for varicose veins, internal bleeding, hemorrhoids, and to prevent strokes due to broken veins or arteries (hemorrhagic strokes). Rutin is also used to prevent a side effect of cancer treatment called mucositis. This is a painful condition marked by swelling and ulcer formation in the mouth or lining of the digestive tract. In combination with the proteins trypsin and bromelain, rutin is also used for osteoarthritis.

Sabal Serrulata: Sabal serrulata health benefits as a homeopathic remedy are prescribed for prostate problems ranging from BPH to prostate cancer. It is also known as saw palmetto. Homeopaths may prescribe this remedy for men with BPH who have little or no sexual desire, who experience painful erections, whose genital region is cold to the touch, and who may have testicular atrophy.

Safflower Oil: Is a Polyunsaturated fat and may help to lower cholesterol and decrease platelet aggregation, thus reducing the risk of heart disease.  (Possibly effective for) blood circulation, and strengthens the immune system.

Saw Palmetto Extract: is used for chronic pelvic pain, bladder disorders, decreased sex drive, hair loss, and hormone imbalances.  Acts as a diuretic, urinary antiseptic, and appetite stimulant.  Inhibits production of dihydrotestosterone, a form of testosterone that contributes to enlargement of the prostate.  Shown to improve lower urinary tract symptoms in men with benign prostatic hyperplasia.  May also enhance sexual functioning and sexual desire. Has been used to treat prostate enlargement and inflammation, painful ejaculation, difficult urination, and enuresis (the inability to control urination).  It reduces prostatic enlargement by reducing the amount of hormonal stimulation of the prostate gland.

Spirulina: Spirulina is a type of blue-green algae that is rich in protein, vitamins, minerals, and carotenoids, antioxidants that can help protect cells from damage. It contains nutrients, including B complex vitamins, beta-carotene, vitamin E, manganese, zinc, copper, iron, selenium, and gamma linolenic acid (an essential fatty acid). Test tube and animal studies suggest spirulina may boost the immune system, help protect against allergic reactions, and have antiviral and anticancer properties. A number of animal and test tube studies suggest that spirulina increases production of antibodies, infection-fighting proteins, and other cells that improve immunity and help ward off infection and chronic illnesses such as cancer. Amino acids make up 62% of spirulina. Because it is a rich source of protein and other nutrients, spirulina has been used as a nutritional supplement. Test tube studies suggest that spirulina has activity against herpes, influenza, and HIV.

Superoxide Dismutase (SOD): Superoxide dismutase is an enzyme found in all living cells. An enzyme is a substance that speeds up certain chemical reactions in the body. The superoxide dismutase that is used as medicine is sometimes taken from cows. Superoxide dismutase is taken by mouth for removing wrinkles, rebuilding tissue, and extending the length of life. Superoxide dismutase helps break down potentially harmful oxygen molecules in cells, which might prevent damage to tissues. It is being researched to see if it can help conditions where oxygen molecules are believed to play a role in disease.

Sweet Almond Oil: Some people apply sweet almond directly to the skin to soften chapped skin, to soothe mucous membranes, and to kill germs.

T

Taurne: Is considered a nonessential amino acid.

Tribulus Terrestris Herb and Extract: Also known as Puncture Vine, is listed in Ayurveda texts from India (the oldest recorded form of medicine in the world dating back thousands of years), and was also widely used in ancient Greece.  The benefits realized from Tribulus Terrestris vary depending on the region of the world it is grown, but most commonly is used by present-day healers for a variety of liver and kidney diseases and disorders.  Tribulus Terrestris from India very effectively breaks down fats that inhibit healthy liver function, and is widely used for liver, kidney and cardiovascular support, promotes 'good' HDL cholesterol levels needed for healthy hormone production and has the unique ability to cause the body to retain L-dopa levels for extended periods of time. (Mesko Patent # 6340474)  Tribulus Terrestris grown in Bulgaria, is used by natural healers to promote testosterone production, help sexual dysfunction and increase sperm count.

U

Uniphen: A preservative used in creams.

Urtica Dioica: This plant is also known as Nettle or Stinging Nettle. Confirmed by clinical studies, has a long and successful history of relieving male prostate problems.  New research shows Urtica Dioica, and especially Urtica Dioica Extract, to be very effective at inhibiting the conversion of testosterone into estrogen (aromatase).  Inhibiting the conversion of male testosterone into estrogen reduces the levels of the undesired estrogen known as 16a-hydroxyestron.

Zinc: is a bluish white mineral that occurs naturally and is found in the body as trace element, meaning that the body needs only small amounts of it. Usually, it's found in enzymes within the human body. A deficiency of zinc in the body, however, can lead to many different types of health issues. The nervous system needs zinc most, although it can also help to regulate cell metabolism. Taking zinc can not only alleviate conditions caused by a lack of it in the body, but also boost immunity by fighting exhaustion and weakness, which can make people more susceptible to disease and infection. Zincum Metallicum also helps the body absorb other substances essential for health and vitality, including vitamins E and A.

Zinc Gluconate: Zinc supplements are available in various forms such as zinc Gluconate.  Zinc supplements are used in developing countries to treat deficiency-related growth stunting, particularly in young children.  Zinc supplementations improve immune function in those who are deficient.  It increases the activity of the thymus gland, improves antibody responses and enhances the functioning of white bold cells.  Other uses are for: wound-healing, improve birth weight and head circumference of babies from mothers who are deficient, skin, and eating disorders.

Zinc Oxide USP: is used for the prevention or treatment of minor skin problems, for example cuts, poison ivy, burns and diaper rash. Because the ointment is thick and opaque reflecting and scattering light, it makes an excellent sun block. It is also waterproof, so will stay where it's put on the body during swimming and if a person is sweating.

Zinc Sulfate: is the inorganic compound with the formula ZnSO4 as well as any of three hydrates. It was historically known as "white vitriol". It is a colorless solid that is a common source of soluble zinc ions.

Zincum Metallicum:  Zincum Metallicum is a homeopathic remedy used to treat a wide variety of ailments related to a zinc deficiency in the body. These can include a lack of concentration, problems sleeping through the night, anxiety and related panic attacks, and chronic fatigue. Headaches and back pain, as well as breathing problems and muscle cramping, are also said to be relieved by taking this remedy, which is derived directly from zinc.
